Changes..

Hey everybody, I hope you had a great weekend and welcome back to my blog!

As you can probably tell I made some changes to my blog

First I changed the name to Maya's Mind because I wanted it to be a little more personal and I really do post whatever is on my mind or what I feel like you all would like!

Second I will no longer be posting everyday Monday-Friday I'll post every other day which would be Monday, Wednesday, Friday. I want to try and create better blog posts with better quality and more effort. So I don't have to rush and just post whatever every day, I'll post every other and be able to put more effort into the post!

Third I kind of had a revelation this weekend in the sense that I want to try and start living a healthier lifestyle. During the school year I used work out and eat healthy and just all around feel better about myself. But now in summer I literally feel like a sack of crap and I just want to get back to feeling better about myself. So I want to take you guys on the journey with me I want to be motivated and post my work out routine, healthy recipes, and just all around inspiration for you all and myself.

Lastly I wanted to kind of make a change just because I am starting college in the fall and I really just want to start with a fresh slate. I wasn't one who enjoyed high school that much it just wasn't for me all around. I really, really, really want to try my hardest in college and get involved and everything like that so I felt like I just needed to break away from the high school day and "teen-things" and really just start fresh and revamp everything!

I hope you all like the changes I redid my blog completely from my name to the fonts and everything else.

I really hope you all enjoy and join me on this journey because I will post everything!

Stay tuned for Wednesday guys I have a really really cool post coming!

Current favorite T.V. shows!

Let's be honest it's summer and all I do is watch T.V. so I thought why not tell you guys some of my current favorites! I only have 2 because that's all I've been REALLY liking right now

First is here comes Honey Boo Boo which is on TLC on Thursday at rather 8 or 9 o'clock I forgot which. This is one of my reality guilty pleasures this show is literally so hilarious and outrageous I can't even handle. A brief summary of this show is Alana the little girl in the picture above used to be on another TLC show toddlers in tiaras but now her family got their own show. It follows the family around their daily life like a  usual reality show. But they are just so crazy and funny I can't put into words you just have to watch and see! From left to right in the bottom picture the family names are Jessica, Ana and her daughter Kaitlyn, June(the mom), Alana, Sugar bear (the dad), and Pumpkin.
PSA (public service announcement) some might find them a little disgusting not going to lie that's why I said guilty pleasure lol

Lastly I've been liking this new show on abc family called young & hungry. This show just came out last Wednesday but I already know I'll like it because that's my type of show. In essence this show is about a teenage blogger girl Gabi played by Emily Osment who lands a job as a personal chef for this big tech guy Josh, I really don't understand what he does so we're just gonna go with tech guy. Basically she has a one night stand with Josh (her boss)because he was going to propose to his girlfriend and she called and said she needed a "break" and Gabi was trying to "comfort" him. There's other ways to comfort but to each their own. But then the girlfriend Josh is in love with comes and gets back together with him and then he proposes and now their engaged and things get awkward with Gabi but he still offers her the position. There is definetly sexual tension between Gabi and Josh so I'm curious where it will lead. I'm not going to lie this show can get annoying in the sense that it try's to hard, not a naturally funny but try hard funny. I think I only really like is because it's summer and none of my other shows are on. But it is still a really cool show and I want to see what happens so I do recommend it!

I hope you all enjoyed this post and I will see you on Monday. Have a great weekend!!

Recipe: Banana Oat Pancakes

Hey guys! So today I have a recipe for you all, and it is banana oat pancakes they are seriously so good and super easy to make it honestly took me 15 minutes to do everything

For the ingredients all you will need is (makes 3 medium sized pancakes)
<1 banana
<2 eggs
<1/3 cup oats
You wanna go ahead and put all the ingredients in a bowl or you can use a blender if you prefer, my blender is literally humongous and it is to much of a struggle to pull it out and use it so I don't mind just mixing it by hand.
You just want to mix it until its a smooth consistency or chunky if you like it that way. I recommend smashing the banana first if you are mixing it by hand it makes it smoother and easier to stir. After mixing it in a bowl I put it in a measuring cup just so it's easier to pour!

Next I sprayed the pan with some cooking spray so it wouldn't stick. Then I just put the batter in the pan.
You can add whatever toppings you want to the batter I made one regular pancake and 2 chocolate chip! I loved chocolate chips with it because it had bananas and when I ate it with chocolate it almost felt like a banana split not gonna lie.

You have to wait about 30 seconds to 1 minute to flip it, wait until it is about the color above to flip because it will fall apart if you try to flip it before it gets a little crispy.
Then just plate and enjoy! I topped mine with honey and apple slices I love pancakes with fruit but that is completely up to you. Also if you add chocolate chips you really don't need honey or syrup because the banana is sweet and so are the chocolate chips so it's perfect to me. I wish I had whip cream though I think it would've made it even better and more like a banana split! But with or without they were still super super good I highly recommend!!!

I hope you all enjoyed this healthy recipe it is so easy and extremely delicious. See you all in tomorrows post!!

books, books, books

Hey guys so today I thought I would talk about another one of my current favorite books and it is #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso the founder and CEO of Nasty Gal a really cool online clothing store!

The book looks like this very nice and cool I like the pink which is girly then her outfit is awesome and makes it look more boss ass bitch if you feel what I'm sayin?

Anyways the book essentially talks about her journey to start the company all the ups and downs. Also what she does on a daily basis, how she hires and fires people and overall kind of an insight into the business. To be completely honest if you are not into fashion or business type of things you probably won't like this book too much because it's almost a how to of how she did it and the story of her business. I believe this book is meant to inspire and show people that not everyone needs a degree to be successful, which I think is pretty cool.
My favorite quote from the book, " Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle" - Abraham Lincoln. Love that quote I really admire people who hustle and work hard for what they have and I would like to think of myself as a hustler as well. Amoruso would start each chapter with a page like this kind of giving an overview of what was to be expected in the chapter and a little quote relating to it, which I personally loved. I like books that are structured differently in the sense that it's not just chapter after chapter but has a little something different such as this book. Also what I really liked was in between most chapter their was a little letter type thing written by some real life #GIRLBOSSES which I thought was cool as well and added a little something else different.

In essence that book is about Amorusos journey from stealing and having to dumpster dive for food to owning a 100 million dollar business which is just so intriguing to me and I had to know how she did and it is very interesting!! I really recommend this book to all of you. I personally rented it from the library because it is a little on the expensive side but I would really recommend buying it if it is not in your local library!

High School Survival Guide: Incoming Freshman

I thought I would start a series on my blog about how to survive high school with different topics each time. I wish I had, had some sort of advice when I was in high school so now I will be lending my expertise and something's I recommend.

Todays post will focus on incoming freshman the do's and don'ts

First things first do not come in with the attitude that you are better then anybody else or the hottest shit the world the has ever seen and that you own the place. In reality you are probably none of these things and it will cause people to hate you and you will prove the annoying image people already have in their head of freshman. That is exactly what I did my freshman year I thought I was super cool and ran the show and I was really just a mess and not hot at all

Next please please please do not wear too much makeup people love to make fun of others and they will make fun of a cake face I can guarantee you, and I want to spare any hurt for you guys. Do not cake it on be as natural as possible, I feel that people actually prefer the natural look above all else. You also do not need to straighten or curl your hair everyday, unless it makes you feel better then by all means keep doing it. I personally look better with my natural hair my face shape just doesn't look that great straightened. My freshman year I thought it was cute to do a neon purple eye everyday or a Smokey eye that made me look like a raccoon that was going to the club in essence I was a hot mess with horrible makeup.

I do not really know how to word this nicely or delicately so I am just going to come out and say it, do not put out and be slutty. If there's one thing senior boys love is to prey on freshman girls and as they say around here " hit it and quit it", they most likely will take advantage of you and 9 times out of 10 not end up dating you. I think when most people come to high school they just want to fit in and be liked but I can not stress this enough you do not want the reputation of the girl that gets around. I had this friend that had that reputation and she owned it that she was a little slutty ( more like a lot slutty to be honest) but honestly imagine if your mom or family found out that, that was your reputation it isn't the thing you want to be known for.

DO NOT LET BOYS DISTRACT YOU it is always fun to mess around with guys ( don't be slutty though please) and have boyfriends but do not let them bring you down and lower your grades. I had a thing with a few guys and was still able to maintain good grades and get into a good college. You have to have the mentality that you are the only person that can get YOU into college ,grades are the most important thing. One has to be able to have a good balance between a social life and school life. In my mind school always came first I was in honors and AP classes so I really had to distribute my time wisely. It is hard at first but I promise you will eventually adjust and find the right balance for you personally!

Lastly this is probably the most important thing I just learned recently and it is own whatever you got and work it. Honestly what I wrote above is all just my opinion maybe you don't agree and actually do some of those things. Either way own it if you like to wear a lot of makeup you wear it with confidence, if you like to slut around own it, if you think you're the hottest shit own it! I don't recommend to do these things but no matter what I would want you all to work whatever you have and walk around with confidence.

That is all for todays post like I said above these are just my opinions and what I have experienced if you do any of these things more power to you, just don't ever lose sight of who you really are!

I hope you all have a great day and I will see you with a new post tomorrow!!!!

What's in my Beach Bag!

Hey everybody, honestly if you live in California especially southern California in the summer you're always at the beach. The case is no different with me so today I thought I would show you guys everything I put in my beach bag whenever I go ( which is usually at least once a week if we're being completely honest here, which we are)
Ok so let us get started above all I take a towel, usually I like to go in the water but sometimes I will just lay on my towel but I always do take a towel no matter what because you never really know what will happen.

The backpack I take which you can see on the top right is super cute jean backpack type thing with rope straps I like it a lot especially cause sometimes we have to walk long distances and backpacks distribute weight well. Backpack is from Target

I always take water and some sort of snack, yesterday I decided to take a little bag of ruffles chips sometimes we take sun chips, wheat thins, or any type of salty snack. Also me ,my sister and cousin usually walk to the Albertsons which is close to the beach and get a cold drink. Yesterday I got a POM mango drink. It was SO good and made me feel like I was on some sort of island in Hawaii really refreshing!
The drink looks like this, I'm obsessed!!

If it wouldn't be obvious enough I take sunscreen as well, I am literally white as snow and burn more then I tan so sunscreen is a must. But what I usually do is put tanning oil on my legs and arms so those tan a little more (hopefully not burn, but that is what usually happens, the struggle is too real) and put actual sunscreen on my face, neck, and back area.

I also bring a hat and sunglasses, since I wear makeup I try not to tan my face so I don't have to buy concealers and powders in a million different shades, the laziness is real with that type of stuff lol.

I also bring headphones to listen to music on my phone, my favorite app for music is itube, which you download for free and make a playlist of your favorite songs for free as well. My friend introduced it to me this year and it's the only app I use for music, they literally have every song.

Lastly I usually bring a book for entertainment, sometimes I read and sometimes I don't really depends on the day. But it is really relaxing either way. Currently I'm reading 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson, pretty good so far!

That is all for todays post I hope you all enjoyed and I'll see you tomorrow!

Benefit Boi-ing Concealer

Hey everybody so today I am doing a review on benefits boi-ing concealer I have been using it for about two years now and I wanted to talk about it. You can buy it from any high end makeup store such as Sephora, Ulta, Macys, or if you have a benefit store near you and it retails for around $20.

This is what the packaging looks like its black and very sleek which is nice. I am in the lightest shade 01, I am extremely pale and I feel like this really matches perfectly and kind of adjusts to my skin tone as well. As you can see I hit pan on mine in like three places I don't even know how that happened but anyways this is my third boi-ing concealer and I love it. I don't wear foundation at all I don't even own one because I do have good skin for the most part *knock on wood. All I use is concealer, powder, bronzer, and blush and that is good enough for me. This convers everything I could ever need it to cover I love it!

I'm pretty sure you can tell which side has the concealer and which doesn't but just the left doesn't and the right does. As you can see in the inner half of my under eye I have some purple and blue discoloration and I just put some on and as you can see on the right you cant even tell at all. I am usually not one for high end brands because I feel like you can honestly find anything high end for a much cheaper price but this is one product I will splurge on. Especially since I don't wear foundation I like to have really good concealers and this is the best I've tried. It's creamy and goes on smoothly doesn't look weird or splotchy on skin and covers everything and I mean EVERYTHING you need to be covered. I recommend this product 100%!

That's all for todays post I hope you liked this lovely review and I also hope you all have a terrific weekend and I will see you all with a new post on Monday!

books, books, books

Hey everbody today I thought I would share with you guys my current favorite book series, but there is only 2 books in the series so it is not that extensive. But I absolutely LOVE these books so I have to share!!! The books are flirting in Italian and kissing in Italian by Lauren Henderson and lets just say they are seriously super awesome
The first book in the series Flirting in Italian is by far better then the second I'll get into more detail about the second one later. But overall the first one is just amazing. So in essence this girl named Violet who I believe lives in England goes to a museum and sees a famous painting of a woman who looks just like her and she begins to question her life, because she realized that she looks like neither of her parents or family. This particular painting is Italian so she decides to further investigate by studying abroad in Italy for the summer. In the exchange program there is two American girls and one Australian girl. They all go live with an Italian host lady in her house ( I forgot her name to be honest). Then she meets this guy named Luca who is dreamy and Italian but he plays mind games. While dealing with Luca she is also trying to figure out the whole situation with the painting that looks like her, study the Italian culture, and deal with the other girls studying abroad. That's all I'm going to say because I could probably go on for days which would benefit nobody, so I really recommend reading it.

My library didn't have this book because it just came out this year but I HAD to have it after I finished the first one so I just ended up buying it. I was pretty disappointed to be completely honest the first book had me going crazy and wanted to read in like a day. But the second was more anti climactic, the focus of the second book was more on Violet and the girls she was studying abroad with and their stories. The first was more about her and Luca which I prefer because I like boy drama but that's just me. The book wasn't bad by any means you figure out the whole situation with Violet and the women in the painting which is really interesting. There is some parts with Luca so I had to savor what little their was. All in all it really is a great series it ends in a kind of odd way but at the end of the day it really is amazing or else I wouldn't be blogging about it.

Ok guys that is all for today I hoped you enjoyed this post and I want to do more posts about books in the future because I absolutely love to read! I hope you all have a great day and I will see you tomorrow!

Haul Part 2!

Hey guys I'm coming at you with another haul, it's summer and all I want to do is shop so lucky for you guys I will haul it all. Anyways I have something's from Kohl's and Bath and Body Works. They're having their semi annual sale so why wouldn't I go back and pick some more things up?lol

Kohls

First I just got these black pair of sandals with a little braid on the sandal. I needed some new flip flops and these are super cute and I got them for like $11 so holla at that!

Last thing I got from Kohls was this SUPER cute gray semi high low shirt with some white leather detailing on the shoulders. I had seen something like this a forever 21 and I loved it but it was really thick and it is too hot for that to be honest, so I was so happy when I found this shirt and it was on sale for $8, I'm obsessed.

Bath and Body Works
I got another $3 candle but for me and my mom to share she loves any lavender sent so I thought it would be nice to get her a candle but I will also use it of course lol.

Lastly I got the Bath and Body Works 5 for $5 hand sanitizers I am OCD so literally I am always sanitizing so these come in handy quite often. From left to right I got ocean for men I like manly scents for some reason I think they just last longer and are fresher. Next I got beautiful day which honestly smells like a spring floral day. I got island margarita which smells more tangy and I hate to say it but like a margarita. Also I got pink chiffon which is extremely sweet and girly. Lastly I got Caribbean escape which smells like a field of coconuts and pineapples which is always nice ya feel?

That was my haul I hope you all enjoyed, I will see you tomorrow with a new post!

Outfit of the day: Graduation

Hey guys, today I have an outfit of the day from my cousins graduation from university!

Like I said in one of my other posts above all I am always trying to be comfortable and graduations are usually long so this was no exception. For my top I'm wearing that plain white top I got from forever 21 that I showed in my haul the other day. For bottom I'm wearing floral harem pants that I got from this store called G-stage, which I think is just a cheaper version of forever 21! As for shoes I wore some gold sandals from Steve Madden, and for accessories I wore a gold hand chain from forever 21.
I love pants that are super comfortable and have pockets or dresses or skirts that have them, I just feel like it makes them just so much more comfortable and even cuter!
The sandals had some detailing on them which was pretty cool and nice.
I love that hand chains are coming in style because they just look so cute with everything and add a cool boho vibe.

As for purses I wore a black cross body with some gold detailing I honestly don't even know where it is from I feel like my aunt or someone in the family gave it to me so it's possibly vintage.

I hope you all enjoyed this outfit of the day post and I will see you all tomorrow!

Haul Time!

I went shopping with my friend the other day and picked up a few things and I thought I would show you all. I have things from Forever 21 and Bath and Body Works

Bath and Body Works!
Bath and Body Works is having their yearly mid year sale, and I saw they were having these candles on sale for $3, so I decided to pick up one on the scent island margarita. Which smells like sweet mangoes and just super tropical. Perfect summer scent!

Forever 21!

First I just got this plain white short sleeve shirt I needed for an upcoming outfit of the day. It is very basic but I like it because it has the slightest detail on the bottom and the back has a line down the middle which just adds a cool little somethin somethin if you feel what I'm sayin

Next I got these really pretty baby blue high waisted shorts, at first I was looking for plain jean shorts and I found these so I thought I would just try them on for the hell of it and I'm so glad I did! They look super cute and flattering, high waisted shorts tend to give me camel toe lol so I usually stay away from them but these are super flattering, I am obsessed.
Lastly I just for a pair of super comfy dark wash jean shorts. All the shorts I have are just too tight and uncomfortable and I can barely move without my but showing, so I got these they cover everything and are super comfortable.

I've come to the realization that these days all I want is to be comfortable I love to wear cute clothes and look nice but above all I just want to be comfortable. I semi think it was because last year I was a senior in high school and just stopped caring about everything and everybody so I wore whatever. But now in college I want to look cute but comfortable so whenever I shop I always have that in mind. Comfort over everything for me to be honest

See you all on Monday! Have a great weekend and feel free to comment and let me know anything you would like to see on my blog!

What I ate Wednesday!

Yesterday I documented and took pictures of everything I ate. I thought it would be cool to do a post like this. I love to see other peoples blogs with posts of what they ate so I decided to do it too. If you guys like it I will start to do it weekly!

Breakfast!
For breakfast I usually like to have some sort of cereal, today I had cheerios sometimes ill have special K or whatever I am in the mood for. I don't have it with milk I just eat them plain and with almonds so there is protein, that will keep me full longer. I didn't take a picture but also I like to have a piece of fruit yesterday I had a nectarine, also ill rather have a tangerine or a small apple. As for drinks usually I have tea during the school year but in summer I like orange juice or water.

Lunch!
For lunch I went out shopping with my friend and we went to a nice little fish place. I got shrimp and chips but had the shrimp grilled just cause I love the taste of any grilled seafood opposed to fried, also with a side of grilled vegetables. I also just drank water.

Dessert!
Then we went to this local ice cream parlor type thing. That serves Italian ice, so I got sorbet cream which is vanilla ice cream on the bottom and I chose watermelon, sour apple, and mango as my Italian ice flavors. It was so refreshing and good.

Dinner!
For dinner we had some left over tacos so I had those. Which in my tacos I put beef, salsa, guacamole, lettuce, cheese, and hot sauce. They were so good!

That was my what I ate Wednesday on a Thursday , I hope you all enjoyed.

Favorite Summer Lip products

Here are my top 5 lip colors for summer

From left to right Revlon's crème lipstick in Pink Velvet, NYX soft matte lip cream in San Paulo, Elf lipstick in classy, Revlon lip butter in Strawberry Shortcake, and finally Maybelline baby lips in pink punch.

First off lets talk about NYX soft matte lip cream in San Paulo, I had been seeing this all over YouTube and wanted to try it for myself. I can say that it was really worth it, I love the way the matte lip creams feel and they last! I like to use it for more of a summer night lip because as you can see in the picture it is a darker pink but still so cute whenever. Obsessed
Next the Revlon crème lipstick in Pink Velvet this is probably my favorite color out of all 5 after the NYX lip crème. The color pay off is great and it looks great with all skin types. The perfect summer pink!
Moving right along to the Elf lipstick in Classy. This has been a favorite of mine for a while now it is like a pink almost going on purple and its dark and vampy, I love it. I think also it is $1 so you really can't get any better. It comes on really smooth and creamy, color looks great and it will go with a lot of makeup looks.
Second to last we have Revlon lip butter in Strawberry Shortcake. I think the best way I can describe this is Barbie pink. It is the typical girly girl bubblegum pink and for some reason I actually really like it. I think it looks really cute during the day if you go the mall or a pool party or something. Make sure not to cake it on to much though because it can get to overwhelmingly pink.
Lastly Maybelline baby lips in pink punch. I love the brand Maybelline as whole it is like the drugstore version of benefit. Anyways this color is a lighter pink and is like a pink chapstick almost. So you need a lot of coats to get a lot of color pay off but if you want just a little one coat is fine as well.

Hope you guys enjoyed my top 5 lip products for summer. Please feel free to tell me your favorite summer lip colors in the comments below, I am always up to try new lip products.
